Wildlife Habitat Conservation Stamps

The 29th stamp, Grey Wolf, by Patricia Pépin (2016)

The 29th stamp, Grey Wolf, by Patricia Pépin (2016)

The artist

Patricia Pepin is an animal painter from Bromont in southern Quebec. Her work reflects her love of nature which she paints down to the smallest detail.

In her oils on fine linen, she paints the animals that she observes and photographs, from the humble frog in its small pond to the ferocious leopard in Kenya.

She is a member of the Society of Animal Artists and has illustrated stamps for the Fondation de la Faune du Québec and for Wildlife Habitat Canada. Her work has also been chosen for Ducks Unlimited Canada’s National Art Portfolio.

Grey Wolf

The wolf is one of North America’s largest predators. Their gregarious nature and howling at night continue to capture our collective imagination. Individual wolves can weigh up to 77 kilos and a pack will not hesitate to attack prey as large as a moose. In Quebec, the wolf’s preferred habitat ranges from the Boreal forest along the North Shore of the St. Lawrence River to the mixed forest, the taiga and the tundra.
